SCC Covid-19 Update 3/25/20

March 25, 2020

Dear SCC & Friends,

This is my third update, and I hope you and your family are finding peace and grace amid change and uncertainty. I am struck by the fact that the Coronavirus is invisible to the naked eye, and we can only see the negative effects. I am also struck by the fact that God is invisible and through spiritual eyes we can see the Lord’s visible effects of grace and love in our lives. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.  1 Tim. 1:17  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made…  Rom. 1:20  Nothing escapes His eye…God with us…Our refuge and strength…Ps. 46

As I said last week, I continue to be blessed by the ongoing creativity and desire to stay connected. Even I am getting there, as I did my first video podcast, and have used “Zoom” on two occasions. You’ve heard me say so many times that the church is people and not a building. A beautiful house does not always translate to a healthy family, nor does a church building always mean a fruitful congregation. We…as living stones are being built as a dwelling place of God. We are the church, and as the church, can accomplish much good in the midst of social restrictions and limitations.

These days are marked by more questions than answers, yet we can be certain that the Lord is the answer through it all. We can be certain that we were made for such a time as this. I am certain that the church is alive; be it cyber-enabled, text, phone, letters, e-mails, prayer closets, focus on the Scriptures, fasting, etc., keep up the good work. May we continue to find creative ways to encourage, and maintain an attitude of prayer and thanksgiving to honor God and be a blessing to others.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say rejoice! Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:4-7

Yours in Christ,

Kevin
