Dear SCC & Friends,

And He shall be the stability of your times… ~Isaiah 33:6

Update #81

It is generally a compliment if someone is referred to as a stable person. Stability refers to one who is steady and sensible, not easily upset or disturbed. Misapplied, stable can be a “code word” for boring, predictable or lacking spontaneity. A stable person is steady, poised and balanced as opposed to fickle, capricious or impulsive. God is not only the stability of our times, but the stability and bedrock of our very lives… He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. ~Ps. 40:2Have you ever been stuck in miry clay? …spinning your wheels and going nowhere. Miry clay is messy, gushy, soft and very difficult to get traction. Several years ago, we were on a trip to Kenya, and our safari jeep got stuck in a very nasty and sticky mud called “black tar.” We were exposed to wild animals and could not get help, as authorities feared they’d also get stuck. In essence, no help was coming… Over the next couple of hours we tried and tried, pushing and pulling, but the jeep sank deeper and deeper. We had run out of options when we finally came to our senses and prayed together for God’s help. So, after many efforts we tried again, and this time the jeep broke free. Hallelujah! Jesus is the polar opposite of shifting sand and miry clay. …God the rock of my refuge. ~Ps. 94:22 …Selah… a very present help in trouble… ~Ps. 46

This is our time to be salt and light… knowing we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. ~Philip. 4:13 I love the old hymn… “On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand…When darkness veils His lovely face I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.” May our feet be firmly planted on the Rock who is unshakable in these very shakable times. “For, I, too, had a hiding place when things were bad. Jesus was this place, the Rock cleft for me.” ~Corrie ten Boom, Holocaust Survivor You were made for these days! He knows your name… Keep up the good work!

He is our solid Rock…
