Weekly Update from Pastor Kevin 10/27/21

Dear SCC & Friends,

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made… ~Psalm 33:6a

Update #86

“It ain’t the part of the Bible that I can’t understand that bothers me, it is the parts I do understand.” ~Mark Twain How did it all begin? In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ~Gen. 1:1 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.~Heb. 11:3 Simple, but we make it so complicated. Stephen Hawking, world renowned physicist and a declared atheist, had these words… “The odds against a universe like ours emerging out of something like the Big Bang are enormous. I think there are clearly religious implications. It would be very difficult to explain why the universe would have begun in just this way except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like us.” He goes further to say, “Many people do not like the idea that time has a beginning, probably because it smacks of divine intervention.” Even a brilliant scientist like Hawking must admit that there must be an uncaused first cause… For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. ~Rom. 1:20…Selah…

“Faith is like radar that sees through the fog–the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see.” ~Corrie Ten Boom Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~Heb. 11:1 The more I know, the more aware I am of what I don’t know. “It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of our own ignorance.” ~Thomas Sowell We know a lot and know so little. The Lord equips us with the knowledge we need, and calls us to walk by faith, not by sight. He created it all…everything. He sustains it all…everything. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created by Him and for Him. ~Col. 1:16 Take comfort that our Creator is our Lord and Savior and is with us always, even to the end of the age. Keep up the good work!

Our God reigns!
