Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 3/9/22

Dear SCC & Friends,

Fight the good fight…

~1 Timothy 6:12

Reflection #105

One thing we can know for sure is that God is in control, and nothing escapes His eye. The Lord has a different way of keeping time. …do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ~2 Pet. 3:8 We serve a God who knows the end from the beginning and is at work in and through our lives. The crisis in Ukraine is heartbreaking, as we witness firsthand the tragic devastation of war. What can we do? What should we do? How can we help? Let us remember …our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. ~Eph. 6:12 The Apostle Paul described our journey as a good fight. The Greek for good is ‘kalos’, which means commendable, excellent, virtuous, honorable, worthy… and for fight it’s ‘agonia’, which implies conflict, struggle, race, contest. We have been placed in a spiritual war which literally means a virtuous conflict… a worthy struggle… a commendable contest against the god of this world and his minions. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. ~2 Cor. 10:3-4

Our weapons are both seen and unseen, but they are divinely powerful… His Word, His Gospel, our prayers, our resources… We’re in spiritual combat – cosmic conflict for the heart and soul of humankind. ~Charles Colson~ We’ve been equipped to fight for what is good, even as we see and encounter the bad and ugly. It’s a worthy and commendable race we run. Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called… ~1 Tim. 6:12 We live in time, but our lives are to make an eternal difference. For we can be confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. ~Philip. 1:6 Let’s be fervently praying for war-torn Ukraine… For strangers have risen against me, and violent men have sought my life; they have not set God before them. Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul. ~Ps. 54:3-4 Keep up the good work!

                                                               Made for these days,

                                                               Kevin
