Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 3/30/22

Dear SCC & Friends,

…holding to the mystery of the faith…

~1 Timothy 3:9

Reflection #108

It takes considerable knowledge to know the extent of one’s ignorance. The more we know the less we know; and what we know falls short of what we could know. Every era in human history has had noise and distraction, but our generation has taken it to another level. The devil has made it his business to monopolize on three elements: noise, hurry, crowds. He will not allow quietness. ~Elisabeth Eliot~ In the midst of it all, we need times of introspection which is not mere self-absorption…. It’s prayerfully taking inventory with the Lord regarding our thoughts, words and deeds. But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will repay you. ~Matt. 6:6 All of us have had difficult seasons and times of trial and may even be in one right now… God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it. ~Anon.~ How does the Lord do that? I don’t know… He just does.

If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know; but if any one loves God, he is known by him. ~1 Cor. 8:2-3 He’s at work in the mystery. Every blade of grass, every insect, ant, and golden bee, all so amazingly know their path; though they have not intelligence, they bear witness to the mystery of God. ~Dostoevsky~ For we know in part, and we see in part… ~1Cor. 13:9 The mystery of our faith has substance, clarity and certainty. We abide in the mystery, knowing He does all things well. Our life in Christ is an amazing pilgrimage, and the best is yet to come. We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us…. ~1 Cor. 13:12 MSG It’s no mistake…we were made for these days. Keep up the good work!

                                                               He is faithful and true,

                                                               Kevin
