Dear SCC & Friends,

The grass withers, the flower fades… ~Isaiah 40:8

Reflection #210

It’s been said that ours is a world of expiration dates, limited shelf life and planned obsolescence. This is not a commercial, but our Maytag washing machine was like “old man river… it just kept on rolling along.” It never failed us, but after twenty-seven years and thousands of washes, it’s time had come. We had a repairman look at it and he said, “They just don’t make them like this anymore.” “Why not?” “They just don’t.” Our new washer is far more expensive, and came with a complex digital panel, the color of our choice and a YouTube video on how to use the bells and whistles. I’m not even remotely close to being a “techie”, and sometimes react as the digital age is forced upon all of us at every turn… endless passwords, call waiting, AI, not to mention a daily assault of unsolicited e-mails and texts. Convenience does not come without a price, and ironically is often a source of inconvenience and frustration. We were made for these days and do well when reminded of that which endures. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God endures forever.~Isaiah 40:8

The world changes – circumstances change, we change – but God’s Word never changes.~Warren Wiersbe~ There are many claims about what is true… If everyone believes something, it doesn’t make it true. If no one believes something, it doesn’t make it false. Truth is true at all times and all places. Jesus is the truth, and His plans transcend every generation… The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. ~Ps. 33:11Amidst all the socio-economic-politico upheaval, there is One who never changes… never wears out… In fact, He who watches over us neither sleeps nor slumbers. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. ~Heb. 13:8 Godly character has no shelf life… Generosity will never be outdated… Kindness will always be in vogue, and love never fails… We are His servants of that which endures… the plans of His heart… We were made for these days… Keep up the good work!

He is with us always,

Kevin
