Weekly Reflection from Pastor Kevin 4/10/24

Dear SCC & Friends,

Go… ~Matthew 28:19

Reflection #214

We’ve strayed from being fishers of men to being keepers of the aquarium. ~Paul Harvey~ Our Christian life is a journey of going… Too often we think of going halfway around the world when God is simply calling for us to walk across the room. Going is not for “the other guy” but for all of us. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. ~Matt. 28:19-20Going is the opposite of staying and requires action, passing from one place to another… be it physical or spiritual. We are all faced with a series of great opportunities, brilliantly disguised as impossible situations. ~Chuck Swindoll~ The early church was a growing church because it was a going church… Our part is to go as the Lord leads and directs our lives.

When I served in Viet Nam, we were sent (had to go) on what appeared to be a very dangerous mission. We had a few men who only had a few weeks left on their tour of duty. They were very upset and without going into detail, they were allowed to stay back at the safety of our base camp. Our mission lasted three weeks, and by God’s grace no one was badly wounded or killed. Upon our return, we were shocked to find our perimeter had been breached and two of the men who stayed back were killed “inside the wire.” The safest place turned out to be the most dangerous, and the most dangerous was in the end the safest place to be. It was a life lesson I’ve never forgotten. Our task is to trust and obey, whether He sends you across the street or halfway around the world… His grace is sufficient. Go into the world. ~Mk. 16:15 MSG We can do this… We were made for these days… Keep up the good work!

He is with us always,

Kevin
