Weekly Reflection From Pastor Kevin 10/28/26

Dear SCC & Friends,

What is truth? ~John 18:38

Reflection #347

Truth is not determined by what we want to believe. There is a big difference between subjective experience and immutable objective truth: Increasingly, societal norms lean into a “therapeutic culture” where feelings reign supreme. The term “my truth” is in reality nothing more than a personal opinion based on changing circumstances and an individualized perspective. For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth. ~2nd Cor. 13:8 All truth is God’s truth and is true every day, for everyone, under all conditions and at all times. Truth is true if nobody believes it, and falsehood is false if everybody believes it. Truth is not fickle and does not yield to opinion, fashion, biases or even sincerity. …and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ~Jn. 8:32 …the basis for our faith is neither experience nor emotion but the truth as God has given in Scripture… ~Francis Schaeffer~…The entirety of your word is truth and all your righteous judgments endure forever. ~Ps. 119:160~Selah~

Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate and said, “…I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears My voice.” Pilate, said to Him,“What is truth?”… ~Jn. 18:37-38 Sometimes we ask a question but really don’t want an answer. Pilate was pragmatic and cynical and his response to Jesus was an empty rhetorical question… “What is truth?” Pilate didn’t wait for an answer, and little did he know he was staring the embodiment of all truth in the face… His prisoner was the only one who could overcome sin and death, offering eternal life in its stead… What is truth and Who is truth are one and the same. …we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. ~Jn. 1:14 His word is true, and forever remains our standard of faith and practice… The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God endures forever. ~Jn. 8:32 Keep up the good work!

                                                                 Made for these days,
