We don’t really know Jesus is all we need until Jesus is all we know. ~Tim Keller~ A crisis may be defined as a turning point for better or worse in an acute situation… an emotionally significant event or radical change in situation. A crisis doesn’t make a person, it only reveals what’s in a person. …don’t be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you… ~1 Pet. 4:12 God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains. It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world. ~C.S. “There are no atheists in foxholes.” I was a 23 year old infantry platoon leader in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam. After a long day of patrolling, we uncovered an enemy “bunker complex” hidden in remote jungle and accessed by underground tunnels… It was going to be a long night of rain, exploding claymore mines, and incoming mortar fire. We took cover and waited… We were tired, wet and cold, and it was so dark I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face and was wary of any unknown movement… To top it off, our radio malfunctioned leaving me with no ability to communicate with my men or higher headquarters. We were cut off, exposed and in very real danger… I had done my due diligence and used all my military training and field experience… But we were in a crisis and I needed help… Our extremity is God’s opportunity… I silently prayed, “Lord, I haven’t talked to you in a long time, but if you get me out of this, I’ll go to church when I get back…” I wouldn’t say that was a great deal for the Lord… Yet, over a half century later, I can say with complete confidence and gratitude that He not only got me out but set me on a course… Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. ~Ps. 23:6 Keep up the good work!
