Short-Term Missions
El Reino De Los Niños
El Reino De Los Niños (Kingdom of the Children) is a Christian orphanage in the city of Maneadero, Mexico, just south of Ensenada. The orphanage is run by Tomás and Maricela Shockey and usually provides a home for around 50 children. Since 1990, SCC has been serving and supporting El Reino De Los Niños.
In late July, the highschool and college students of SCC, Kingsway Community Church (San Jose) and Vernon Christian Fellowship (Vernon, B.C. Canada) travel to Maneadero, Mexico for one week to serve at El Reino De Los Niños. Throughout the week, each person participates in a group that is given a task that can range from picking up trash to construction of a new building. Each evening, everyone gathers for worship and teaching from Kevin Davenport and John Isaacs, senior pastors of SCC and Kingsway Community. Many of those who have participated in this trip since the first visit in 1990 have been touched by God in an incredible way. It has been a milestone in the Christian growth of many young people.
